I have been meaning to start a blog for a while now, but have been finding one excuse or another to not actually start it. I want my own domain, my own hosting site, etc...

I know that having a blog is the thing to do now, especially if you are a programmer. Your posts about what you have been working on work better than a resume these days and are a better indication of your quality as both a programmer and a writer. It is almost like a portfolio of your work and can also serve as an online programmers notebook for those neat and/or wierd problems/solutions that you come across. Also, the act of writing daily entries that you know someone else (we hope) will read, makes you want to improve your writing. A little narcissistic, but so what?

I am still looking for the proper domain name and a hosting site, but I have decided to start posting stuff so that a) I can get into the habit, having the blog here will push me toward getting my own site with dotText or some such blogging package and c) I start recording the stuff that I am working on. More to come, well that is the plan...
